Toyota Tacoma Trim Options
- Tacoma SR: Starts with the i-Force Max 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 powertrain that is seen throughout the Tacoma lineup. Add a standard eight-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive and an automatic limited slip differential. Even the base model will be equipped with an independent double-wishbone front suspension and leaf spring rear suspension. It is complete with the Tacoma XtraCab and 6-ft bed.
- Tacoma SR5: Offers much of the same along with 17-inch alloy wheels, a color-keyed rear bumper, a standard deck rail system with adjustable tie down cleats. LED headlights with daytime running lights and auto on/features added to the SR5 kit. LED Fog lights also make the scene here. Six-way adjustable Fabric trimmed seats with a fold-flat passenger's seat and a more powerful i-Force turbo engine help to complete this popular model.
- Tacoma TRD PreRunner: Start with 17-inch TRD PreRunner alloy wheels, a composite underbody fuel tank protector, automatic climate control with air filtration, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and a 60-40 split rear seat with underseat storage. Technology-wise, there is a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and an electronic locking rear differential on board.
- Tacoma TRD Sport: Start with a five-foot bed and a Double Cab. Add 18-inch TRD Sport Alloy Wheels, an auto-dimming day/night rearview mirror, 8-inch audio multimedia display with 6-speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus three months of SiriusXM Satellite radio. Rear-wheel drive with automatic limited-slip differential is also part of the powertrain mix.
- Tacoma TRD Off-Road: The TRD Off-Road includes all the features above but with some crucial changes. Start with 17-inch TRD Off-Road alloy wheels, composite skid plate, a 6-speed manual transmission, 4WDemand part-time 4-wheel drive with 2-speed transfer case and an electronically controlled locking rear differential beef up the powertrain features of this Tacoma.
- Tacoma Limited: Start with four-wheel drive, a five-foot bed and a double cab configuration start things off with the limited. 18-inch Limited chrome-finished alloy wheels and a chrome-finished exhaust tip dressed things up. Power running boards, sequential LED turn signals, backlight logos and manual leveling adjustments are also in the mix.
- Tacoma Trailhunter: Includes Trailhunter bronze-finished alloy wheels, a high-clearance front bumper, an ARB Steel rear bumper with red recovery hooks, and a high-clearance trail exhaust tip. A heritage-inspired Toyota front-grille with integrated light bar, and LED bed lighting add value to the proposition. Rigid Industries color-switching LED fog lights help you see through the night, while steel underbody skid plates help protect the Trailhunter's undercarriage.
- Tacoma TRD Pro: Start with 18-inch TRD Pro Black alloy wheels, black performance exhaust, TRD Pro Aluminum skid plate, reinforced rocker protection, pre-wired DC power auxiliary switches and TRD Pro SofTex performance six-way power heated and ventilated front seats are just the start of this amazing truck!
Toyota Tacoma Engine
There are several variations on a theme with the Toyota Tacoma. All engines are based on the 2.4-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.
The base engine is a 2.4-liter i-Force turbocharged four-cylinder making 228 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. It is standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is an available option.
Next up is a 270 horsepower version producing 310 lb-ft of torque with a 6-speed manual transmission and 278 hp / 317 lb-ft with the 8-speed automatic.
Finally, there's the Turbocharged Hybrid i-Force Max version. It's optional with the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited models, and standard in the TRD Pro and Trailhunter versions. In these models, it delivers 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.
